Mission
The
World Endometriosis Research Foundation (WERF) is the first
global charitable organisation with an aim to foster
research into endometriosis to improve knowledge and
treatment(s).
It will achieve this aim by providing a platform to
attract sufficient funding from a variety of sources
to:
-
facilitate
and carry out well powered international multi-centre
trials involving sufficient patient numbers to provide
results of statistical significance, and
-
support
specific research projects investigating disease
mechanisms.
This
will enable global collaboration amongst researchers
to ensure that:
Vision
In
the short term, the aim is to identify, obtain
funding for, and commence statistically meaningful
international, multi-centre clinical trials, which will
optimise the care of women with endometriosis.
Current clinical trials
As
WERF develops and grows its general research fund, it
will also be able to call for proposals to support specific
basic research projects investigating disease mechanisms with
a goal of one day preventing endometriosis.
Ultimately the
work of WERF should be able to exert a major and beneficial
influence on the diagnosis and management of endometriosis.
Success
in these areas may herald a new era in meaningful
medical research, and a day where no woman is
crippled by endometriosis or prevented from having children
due to endometriosis.
Goal
A day where no woman is crippled by endometriosis or prevented from having children due to the disease.
A day where endometriosis can be prevented.
