Carlos Alberto Petta graduated in 1985 from the University of Campinas
(UNICAMP) and undertook his residency in gynaecology and
obstetrics also at UNICAMP.
He became Professor of gynaecology at the State University of Campinas in 1990. From 1993 to 1994 he spent time at the Unversity of North Carolina, USA where he was awarded a Fellowship at Family Health International.
Professor Petta is involved in numerous educational initiatives at both an international and national level. He has also written authoritatively for numerous medical publications and journals. His main research fields are endometriosis and benefits of hormonal contraceptives.
Professor Petta is a Member of the Board of the International Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ISGE) and vice-president of the Brazilian Society of
Endometriosis (SBE).
Professor Petta was appointed to the WERF board of trustees in December 2009.
