The first global research foundation
for endometriosis
The
World Endometriosis Research Foundation (WERF™)
was created in 2006 as the first global charity
to foster research in endometriosis
to improve knowledge and treatments.
It is estimated that 1 in 10 women suffer from endometriosis during their reproductive years.
This may be as many as 176 million women worldwide, who have to deal with the challenges of endometriosis during the prime years of their lives.
WERF's vision is a day when no woman is crippled by endometriosis nor prevented by the disease from having children.
To achieve this vision WERF carries out well powered, international multi-centre trials, and support specific research projects investigating disease mechanisms. WERF is now working with 30 centres in 19 countries.
Research
is needed because endometriosis is a big problem!
Having to battle daily debilitating
symptoms prevents millions of women to fulfill their
dreams of finishing an education, to maintain a career,
to have children - and sometimes to maintain relationships.
In addition there are significant socio-economic impacts due to the disease.
WERF's
solution
To invest in much needed research into
endometriosis so that early diagnostics and treatments
can be discovered to prevent endometriosis and enable
millions of women to get on with their lives.
The solution
is a global platform where:
- collaborative research is carried out between international
centres;
- datasets
are shared;
- encouraging
results lead to further research;
-
strict protocols are enforced to ensure research is
high quality; and
- results can be translated into viable treatments.
and where results
can be translated into viable treatments to provide
a solution for those affected by endometriosis.
This is what
the World Endometriosis Research Foundation is about.
SUCCESS
in these areas may herald a new era in meaning medical
research for endometriosis - and a future without pain for millions of women!
Please help make it happen
Research takes time. Just like nurturing
a plant to grow and eventually to bloom. But throughout that process a plant
- or a foundation - needs regular feeding in order to flourish!
If you can afford as little as $20 | €15 | £10 ...or any other currency!
it can make a real difference!
Please consider if you can afford that now?
